The UMPI Golf Team got back to the links, after a historic score in their last match. Although it was unrealistic to expect their team score of 326 to become the new bar every time out, the Owls were still able to salvage a solid score of 339, which still would have been the lowest team score since 2014, had they not shattered the record the week prior. Their solid round didn't come easily however, as everyone had to battle hard to keep things on the rails. They were able to beat out St. Joe's squad by one stroke to finish in 10th place.
Top Performers:
An Owls newcomer, Matt Pelletier of Caribou, led UMPI with a team-low 82. Pelletier didn't start out crazy hot however, as he was around bogey golf with a front nine score of 43. After doubling hole 10, Pelletier started to score, making two pars and a birdie over his next five holes, and eventually finishing with three straight pars, for his back nine score of 39.
Spencer Harman followed a very similar trajectory as Pelletier, finishing with an 85. Harman endured a challenging front where he was out with a 46, before flipping the script on the back with four pars and a birdie, to be in with a 39 just like Pelletier.
Supporting Harman and Pelletier's efforts was senior Garrett Chadwick and rookie, Avery Thibodeau who each had an 86. Chadwick had a more tumultuous round, that included three birdies, while Thibodeau stayed steadier with six pars and a birdie for identical nine scores of 43.

The Owls will have another free week of practices before they head for their first back-to-back weekend at Waterville Country Club. On Saturday they will compete in the Colby Classic, and Sunday will be the Farmington Invitational.
