Box Score AUGUSTA, ME: The UMPI Men's Soccer team hit the road on Wednesday to take on UMaine Augusta, a makeup game from September 1
st. The Owls, who were shut out in their opener, wasted no time to get the offense going in the right direction as they would put up 4 goals on the Moose and even their record at 1-1.
The scoring began in the first half with
Remar Shirley finding the back of the net off a very clean look in the 13
th minute assisted by
Nyden Reed. Shirley would again get in the scoring column just 6 minutes later off a terrific through-ball from
Nyden Reed.
Before halftime, the Owls made it 3-0 as
Billy Wray received yet another beautiful through-ball from
Nyden Reed making it three assists for him in one half. This goal originated from the Owls side of the field and Reed hit a perfect ball that threaded the needle through the UMA defense. Wray ran onto it and made a move around the keeper before softly rolling it home.
Shortly into the second half,
Ethan Cameron scored his first career goal after a cross went long, he found himself free to the left side of the sixth. He hit a one-timer and gave the keeper virtually no chance to stop it.
The Owls would cruised to a decisive 4-0 victory, out-shooting the Moose 25-2 on the day. Sam Paladino got his first career shutout in net, saving both of UMA's shots.
The Owls will next face NAC conference rival Maine Maritime Academy on Saturday September 14th at 1pm as part of homecoming weekend.
