The UMPI Men's Soccer continued to be banged up with injuries heading into the penultimate game of the 2026 regular season. This didn't stop this team from being competitive however, as they gave second ranked NAC team, Husson University everything they had for 90 minute, with the Eagles scoring late in the second half to put the game on ice and win with a 3-1 score.
How it Happened:
The Eagles drew first blood in the 29th minute when they converted off a corner kick to make it 1-0. The Owls, with a very short bench that included two of their three keepers seeing some action, still made a half of it keeping the score 1-0.
Husson scored very quickly into the second half on a goal from outside the box to make it 2-0 and seemingly put an end to UMPI's hopes for a draw or win. But the Owls' didn't stop playing and fought to stay in the game while Husson began to coast. The Owls lulled the Eagles to sleep on a set piece from closer to midfield than the 18 in the 79th minute.
Jovain Barrett slid onto a ball from
Andrew Morales, and then
Isaac Doore stood at the goal line to knock it in and ensure it found the back of the net.
It was suddenly a contest again, with the score at 2-1. UMPI battled for opportunities from there but Husson sat forward to put the game away. They did exactly that in the 87th minute, scoring to make it 3-1.
Top Performers:

They play at University of Maine at Farmington on Wednesday at 12:30pm. They will also need a victory from Lyndon over Johnson to ensure UMPI finishes ahead of VTSU-Johnson for the final spot.
