Owls Fall to the Falcons in Doubleheader

Lynn, MA – The Owls baseball team traveled to Lynn, Massachusetts to face off in a doubleheader vs the Fisher College Falcons. The Owls lost today's doubleheader 14-1 and 4-2, falling in both games. The Owls will face off against the Falcons in another doubleheader, tomorrow afternoon.

Game 1 (14-1 – Falcons):

How it happened:

The Falcons came out string to start the first game of the doubleheader, scoring four runs in the first inning. Scoring off six hits, including a triple and two RBI singles. With the Owls recording only one hit in the first three innings, they were able to get on the score board with a solo homerun by Bailey Corely (Lake Stevens, WA). Giving the Owls their only run of the game. The Falcons scored another ten runs on the game including a six-run inning in the bottom of the fifth.

On the mound:

Steed Outler (Flower Mound, TX) started the game on the mound for the Owls, pitching the first four innings, allowing 12 hits and eight earned runs. Nicholas Perfitt (Houlton, ME) and Spencer Harman (Sidney, BC) each pitched an inning, giving up a total of five earned runs and six hits. Ronald Luke earned the win for the Falcons, pitching six innings and striking out nine batters and allowing three hits and one run.

At the plate:

Payton Jones (Green Cove Springs, FL) led the Owls at the plate going two for two at the plate. Corely along with Nathan Church (Dover Foxcroft, ME) earned the Owls other two hits on the game. The Falcons finished the game with 18 hits.

Game 2 (4-2 – Falcons):

How it happened:

Owls lead off Joey Lippo (Coupeville, WA) started the game with a double, allowing Nichols Perfitt (Houlton, ME) to bring Lippo home off an RBI single later in the inning. Although the Falcons stayed hot at the plate with back to back doubles, scoring three runs in the first. The following three innings resulted in only three hits, two of which were by the Owls. Nathan Church (Dover Foxcroft, ME) broke the scoring drought with and RBI single, bringing Lippo home yet again. The Falcons yet again answered right away with a run in the bottom of the fifth. Those would be the final runs of the game as neither team earned a hit for the remainder of the game.

On the mound:

Kaiden Crowley (Jonesport, ME) pitched his first complete game of the year, striking out three batters and only allowing four hits and four earned runs. Crowley did not allow a hit after the second inning of the game. William De Gracia earned thw win for the Falcons while William Carpenter earned the save.

At the plate:

Lead off Lippo finished the game with two hits and scoring two runs on three at bats, also walked once. Perfitt and Church earned the only two RBI's for the Owls, as they finished the game with six hits as a team.

The Owls will finish their doubleheader weekend vs the Falcons with another one tomorrow, first game starting at noon.
