Owls Surrender Lead, Beavers Dominate Second Half

Box Score

FARMINGTON, ME – An early lead would evaporate quickly for the University of Maine at Presque Isle Owls (0-2) as the Beavers from the University of Maine at Farmington (1-0) would notch a 3-1 win in their first game of the season in Farmington.

It didn't take long for the Owls to grab the lead, at the 1:46 mark sophomore forward Cody Blair (Ashland, ME) got the first scoring attempt and found the back of the net for an unassisted goal.  The Beavers would answer back rather quickly.  At the 6:31 mark Luke Dwornik (SO, Newark, DE) would score an unassisted goal, knotting the game at one.  The two teams would go back and forth, being turned away multiple times before Maine-Farmington would score again.  This time Tristan Price (SO, Moultonborough, NH) would connect on a goal (30:39), receiving an assist from Andrew Longhurst (FR, Middletown, DE).  That goal would send the game in to the half time break with the Owls trailing 2-1.

Farmington would control the ball in the second half.  They were able to collect 17 shots to the Owls one, icing away the game.  A goal at the 61:30 mark by Jake Heimlich (FR, Berlin, CT) would be all the insurance the Beavers would need as they would wrap up the 3-1 victory.

The Owls will host the University of Maine at Fort Kent on Wednesday, September 7th.  The game will be played at the Presque Isle High School turf field, under the lights at 7 PM.
