Box Score FORT KENT, ME – The University of Maine at Presque Isle ended their Men's Soccer regular season schedule with a 7-0 loss at Fort Kent. The Bengals were ranked #3 in the USCAA Coach's Poll coming into the matchup.
It took just three minutes for UMFK to get on the board, and the Owls never really got a chance to answer as the Bengals dominated possession. At the break UMPI found themselves down three, but it took mere seconds for the home team to put the game out of reach. Lewis Temple (FR, Edinburgh, Scotland) scored his first goal of the match 19 seconds into the second period. His second goal in the 48th minute all but sealed the win for UMFK.
Caleb Bragg-Grady (SR, Whitefield, ME) was credited with ten saves on the game.
The Owls finish the season with a 3-13-1 record. After a preseason filled with optimism and hope, the young and talented additions to the team took more time then expected to mesh with the returning players. The UMPI attack finally got into gear in October, but a 1-9 September, including being shut out six times, took its toll on the team. The Owls will lose two players to graduation from this team, keeper Caleb Bragg-Grady and midfielder Josh Cross. Bragg-Grady will finish the season in the top 3 of the USCAA in saves, and the top 25 in save percentage.
