Owls Complete Sweep of Fisher

Box Score

(MEDFORD, MA) -- The UMaine-Presque Isle men's soccer team used a strong team advantage over host Fisher College to defeat the Falcons 6-0 on Saturday afternoon.  UMPI coach Alan Gordon was forced to find the right combination of players this weekend with some of his starters still out with injury.  The win snaps a 3-match losing streak for the Owls and improves their record to 5-5.  The Falcons fell to 0-9.

Kyle Corrigan (Sr./Caribou, ME) was the offensive star for UMPI, scoring 3 goals.  Corrigan had one goal coming into the weekend.  Kobe Ashkir (So./Portland, ME) opened the scoring, taking a pass from Chad Caverhill (Fr./Caribou, ME) and placing it in the back of the net at 40:25 in the first half.

Caverhill had a fine offensive day himself, assisting on the first two goals and scoring the last two for Presque Isle.

Josh MacKinnon (Jr./Lismore, NS) earned the shutout in goal, saving both the shots on goals that he faced.

The Owls were once again without leading goal scorer Joel Massa (So./Millbury, MA) who is still working through an injury.

With Saturday's victory, the Owls have now surpassed their win total from 2011.

UMPI will take on New Hampshire Technical Institute on Sunday, September 30th at 2pm.  NHTI are currently in 1st place in the USCAA's Yankee Conference.
