Saquan Carswell had a career slate of games to help UMPI to a 4-0 clean sweep of the North Atlantic Conference Western Division. Carswell has stepped into a starter role due to an injury to renowned star, Doug McCalla. He has been putting up some unbelievable numbers especially over the last three games. On January 12th vs. SUNY Delhi, he had 10 points and nine rebounds in 24 minutes played. It was when the Owls faced SUNY Cobleskill on the next day, that he really stepped up.
In his second start of the season, Carswell put up his first double-double of the year with 17 points and 13 rebounds and went 8-9 on the field and in an overtime victory over the Fighting Tigers that meant a whole lot more than just a big conference win. In his next outing on January 19th vs. VTSU-Lyndon, Carswell shot 9-11 from the field en route to another double-double of 19 points and 13 rebounds. Finally, in the most recent match up with VTSU-Johnson Carswell put up 15 and seven, and went 7-7 from the field. Amazingly, he has only missed three shots in his last three games for a total field goal clip of 24 for 27 (89%). Carswell continues to step up in big ways for the 14-3 Owls heading into another big NAC weekend.
