Machias - The University of Maine at Presque Isle women's soccer team had a tough beginning to the 2018 season with a 7 to l loss at the University of Maine at Machias on Sunday afternoon in it's season opener.

A Dawn Johnson UMM goal at the 37:31 mark of the first half assisted by Amber Chase got the Clippers on the scoreboard early and 6 minutes later at the 38:29 mark Freshman Chase connected on a score on a feed from Anna Mahanor. Chase ard Mahanor teamed up again 3 minutes later for a quick 3 to 0 lead for UMM as they never looked back from there. Chase finished the game with an impressive 3 goals and two assists while Junior midfielder Mahanor added 3 assists

Kelsey Robinson (Fr. Atkinson, ME) scored the Owls goal at the 47:07 mark of the second half on a pass from Jordi Legassie (Sr. Presque Isle, ME). UMPI goalie Alexis Levesque (Grand Isle, ME) had 11 saves on the afternoon while UMM goalie Megan Cote stooped 10 Owl attempts.

The owls and Clippers meet again this coming Wednesday at Presque Isle with a game start time of 1:00P.M.
