The University of Maine at Presque Isle Track and Field teams finished their final meet before postseason play on Saturday at the Maine States' Pine Tree Classic in Lewiston, hosted by Bates College. The Owls set a couple more school records as they continue to improve.
Men:
Joseph Tuulima led UMPI again in the throws, with multiple top five finishes. His day was highlighted at the shot put, with a third place finish thanks to a throw of 13.92 meters, another New England Automatic qualifying mark. Tuulima also finished 4th in discus with a 39.48 meter throw. He was also 6th in hammer throw and 16th in javelin.
Jovain Barrett and Tariq Martin led the Owls in the sprinting and jumping events again with Barrett leading the way with a 13th place finish in the men's 200 meter event, with a time of 23.76. Tariq Martin finished 7th in the high jump with a 1.77m jump.
Women:
On the women's side, Evelyn Elijah owned the highest finish with an 11th place finish in the discus throw with a 29.18m throw. Elijha also finished 18th in javelin.
Maubi Mateo set another school record in the 200 meters with a time of 28.5 seconds. Taylor Marston achieved the same in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:28.6.
