PRESQUE ISLE, ME
The North Atlantic Conference Revealed the finalists for the Woman and Man of the Year awards, a highly prestigious honor that recognizes athletes who stood out in many different areas.
From the NAC Website: "(This Award) honors graduating student athletes who distinguished themselves throughout their collegiate careers in the areas of academic achievement, athletic excellence, service, and leadership."
For UMPI it was Softball Student-Athlete Emma McNally, and Men's Basketball Student-Athlete Logan Migliori who earned the nod as UMPI's nominees. McNally joins seven other woman from across the conference to be named as finalists, while Migliori joins six other men.
Emma McNally:
A native of the small town of Patten, Maine, McNally was a standout Softball player for UMPI, lettering for four years from 2022-2025. It didn't take McNally long for people to realize the difference she'd make at UMPI and the surrounding community. She was named captain during her junior season and lived up to that title with how she led the team by example. Recently named to the NAC Sportsmanship team, McNally accomplished just as much off the field as she did on it. She served in the community in a plethora of ways.
Most notably, McNally was a big presence in the youth softball scene in Presque Isle, working four summers at the Recreation and Parks Department and worked as the Softball lead for a couple of years coaching young girls and giving back to the game. She coached the travel team, leading them to multiple victories in local summer tournaments. In addition to the Presque Isle Rec, McNally volunteered at the animal shelter in town on more than one occasion, and a dog-sled race in 2023. She also was instrumental in the Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC), serving as president in her senior year but handled organizing events and other SAAC activities throughout her tenure there.
McNally helped organize fundraisers that ensured the Softball team could take a spring trip to the south in all four of her years playing. All the while, she maintained an impressive GPA of 3.83 as she excelled in UMPI's Business Administration program with a Concentration in Outdoor Recreation.
McNally also is UMPI's nominee for the NCAA Woman of the Year, a national award.
Logan Migliori:
Unlike McNally, Migliori has been at UMPI for just two years, transferring from Norwich University for his junior and senior seasons. Despite this, Migliori made sure he accomplished as much as he possibly could in his limited time, experiencing all he could, while making a difference everywhere he went. Migliori was voted as a captain for his senior season, a special year for UMPI as they went 20-7 to become the winningest men's basketball team in school history. He was named to the sportsmanship team as well this February.
Off the court, Migliori's involvement in the community was impressive. While at Norwich in Vermont, he volunteered at the Special Olympics Basketball Tournament, helping officiate and organize games.
Migliori has coached at numerous camps for younger kids back in his home state of Florida and in Maine. Right here in Presque Isle, he coached at the Rec department like McNally, sometimes while in-season. He was a part of the Black Student Union at UMPI, serving as treasurer for both of his years.
Migliori also had to balance school with his athletics and community involvement. He was a standout student in the Exercise Science program, maintaining a GPA of 3.84 while assisting UMPI's Head Athletic Trainer, Brian Morrison for many long and late hours at other home events. He also was an important piece to UMPI's game day staff as a work study student during fall and spring seasons.
UMPI is proud to have had Emma McNally and Logan Migliori be such model student-athletes over the past few years. We wish them the best of luck in the future endeavors as they close their storied chapters here at the University of Maine at Presque Isle.
