The Owls Men's Soccer Team was back to North Atlantic Conference East action on Tuesday afternoon, with a home game vs. the University of Maine at Farmington. The Beavers came to town looking for their second NAC East victory of the year while UMPI sought their first. Ultimately, the Beavers struck early to take a 1-0 lead before tacking on one very late in the first half to go up 2-0 at the break. Two more second half goals sunk the Owls, and UMF would go on to win by a score of 4-0.
UMPI had their share of opportunities as UMF only outshot the owls 11-7 on the day (7-3 on goal). UMPI won the corner kick battle 3-1 as well, but the game came down to capitalizing on opportunities, which the Beavers did exceptionally well, scoring on four of their 7 shots on target.
Remar Shirley,
Ethan Cameron and
Isaac Doore all had one shot on goal.
Nyden Reed and
Jovain Barrett both added a shot as well.
Despite it not being an overly lopsided game, the Beavers took away the decisive 4-0 victory, sinking the Owls to 0-4 in NAC East play. UMPI falls to 2-5 overall and will host again this Saturday, when the Terriers of Thomas College travel up for a 1pm start.
