PRESQUE ISLE, ME
The University of Maine at Presque Isle Women's Volleyball team took to the court on Sunday, looking to stop the bleeding and get back in the win column before their conference schedule begins. Unfortunately for the Owls, the Fisher Falcons stood in their way. Much like their last home doubleheader a little over a week ago, UMPI was competitive but always seemed to find themselves playing catch-up. Fisher went on to win both ends of the doubleheader 3-1, and 3-0.
Match 1 Fisher (3-1): 19-25, 25-17, 25-12, 25-17
The highlight of the day for the Owls was the second set of the first match. UMPI was able to seize control early and keep a slim lead before rattling off 5 in a row to take an 18-9 advantage. Fisher made a comeback bid, but not before the Owls could put it away 25-17. This evened the first match. In set 3 however, Fisher got off to a hot start, winning the first 8 points, followed by 8 of the next 11 to take a 16-3 commanding lead. The Owls won the next 7 and seemed to show life, but Fisher recovered to win the set and take back control of the match. The fourth and final set was more of the same, as Fisher took an early lead and never gave it up.
Top Performers:
Jade Anspach led the offense with 9 kills, while chipping in an ace and a block as well.
Faith Graham contributed significantly with 7 kills, and an impressive 4 blocks and 1 service ace. On the defensive side,

Mia Gutierrez also played well on the back line with 18 digs while the Libero,
Kylee Blazick had 16 digs.
Match 2 Fisher (3-0): 14-25, 14-25, 16-25
The second match of the day showed Fisher's consistency, winning each set in a similar fashion by building early leads. In set one, they jumped out to a 10-1 advantage and never looked back. Set two was back and forth until a 7-point run made it 14-7. And in set three, the Falcons made it 9-1 off the jump. It proved to be a game of runs that the Owls couldn't seem to stop the bleeding early enough.
