LYNDONVILLE, VT
The University of Maine at Presque Isle Men's Soccer team returned to the win column on Sunday afternoon with a dominant 3-0 victory over Vermont State University Lyndon. The Owls outshot the Hornets 26-8 on the day, putting 12 shots on goal.
UMPI was led on the offensive front by
Remar Shirley who fired 7 shots, 6 of which were on goal. He also opened up the scoring with a goal in the 18-minute mark to give the Owls the lead. The score remained at that until Shirley stuck again, making it 2-0 early in the second half. The assist was given to
Billy Wray.
The third and final goal delivered the knock-out punch in the 76
th minute.
Nyden Reed earned his first goal of the year to make it 3-0, and solidify a road victory.
The Owls played a well-rounded game and are much relieved to see their offense start to click. They improve to 2-4 on the year with the win over the NAC West opponent. The Owls will continue their NAC East play this Tuesday as they host U-Maine Farmington for a 1pm start.
