MALDEN, MA
The UMPI Men's soccer team took to the field in Massachusetts for the second straight day, this time battling with the Fisher College Falcons. This one saw Fisher taking an early 1-0 lead in the 18th minute, after threatening consistently during that time. Not two minutes later they made it 2-0 and took a stranglehold on the game. It was also the first time in four games that UMPI trailed by more than a goal at halftime. Fisher continued their attack less than 90 seconds into the second frame, scoring again making it 3-0.
The Owls seem to never go down without a fight however, and at the 65th minute, Remar Shirley was able to convert his fifth goal on the year to put UMPI on the board. The Owls had just a handful of opportunities the rest of the way, and Fisher was able to ice the game, winning by the score of 3-1.
The Owls offensive attack came from the duo of Remar Shriley who had 2 shots, and Jovain Barrett who had 3. The Owls were outshot by a total of 29-5 and 9-2 on target.
Freshman keeper Samuel Paladino had a good day in goal for the Owls, making six saves, some of which were much less than routine.
The Owls fall to 2-9 on the season and will have a chance to get back in the win column when they host the University of Maine at Augusta this Thursday at 1pm. This will be UMPI's final home game and will have senior day celebrations.
