PRESQUE ISLE, ME
The University of Maine at Presque Isle Women's Volleyball team continued their North Atlantic Conference gauntlet, going head-to-head with the Defending NAC East Champions: Maine Maritime Mariners. The Owls showed flashes of brilliance at times but couldn't hang with the efficient Mariner squad. MMA swept the match, despite UMPI making them earn it in the first two sets.
Maine Maritime 3-0: (25-14, 25-16, 25-6)
In the first set, the Owls played some of their best ball in a while, going back and forth for the first ten points and matching MMA's best attacks. After it was tied at 10 however, the Mariners went on a 10-point run, which all but secured the first set. Set two was of similar nature with the Owls staying in it for almost the distance. They were within four at 19-15, but MMA was able to win six of the last seven points to take a 2-0 lead. Set three saw MMA play their most efficient volleyball of the day, dominating the set and they led 14-2 at one point. The Mariners eventually prevailed 25-6 to complete the sweep.
