The first match was the closer of the two and one of the more 50/50 sweeps you'll see. The Owls started off in the exact way they would want to for a road doubleheader by scoring the first five points. They kept a slim lead until Husson pulled ahead with a six-point run later on to make it 13-8. UMPI hung tough and fired off six of seven points to tie it at 22 late in the set. They each traded a point before Husson scored the last two points to win in closest way possible, 25-23.
Set two was close throughout as well. UMPI took a slim lead halfway through at 7-6, and 9-8 eventually, before Husson went on a couple mini runs to take a seven-point lead at 21-14. The Eagles kept the Owls at arm's length the rest of the set despite UMPI having no quit. They won by a score of 25-20.
The back and forth trend continued into the third set, with teams trading off points until Husson went on a seven point run to take a 16-6 lead. This was all the difference they would need and would hang on to win the set 25-17, and the match in a 3-0 sweep.
