Owls Nipped by Lynx
LEXINGTON, MA
The UMPI Men's Soccer team travelled to Lexington for the second time this season to take on the Lesley Lynx. The Owls struggled to threaten early, though they did a solid job containing the Lynx and limiting their opportunities. The Owls drew the first shot of the day, but the Lynx scored first in the 29th minute of half number one. Like their last two matches, the Owls kept the score at 1-0 at halftime. Lesley threatened early in the second half, but UMPI continued to stave them away. That was until the 81st minute when Lesley was able to put the nail in the coffin with a penalty kick goal. The Owls hung tough throughout the game but were unable to net any opportunities and fell by the score of 2-0.
Lesley outshot UMPI 12-5, but only 6-3 for shots on goal. Isaac Doore, Remar Shirley and Joel Cormier each threatened with a shot on frame, but none were able to capitalize. The corner kick battle was won by Lesley 4-3.
The Owls fall to 2-8 overall and 0-7 in conference play.
UMPI will have a non-conference opportunity tomorrow afternoon at Fisher College. The game will be played at MacDonald stadium in Malden, MA and will begin at 12pm.
