BANGOR, ME
The University of Maine at Presque Isle Men's Soccer team traveled south on I-95 to face the Husson Eagles on Tuesday evening. UMPI was looking for their first conference win and would face the Eagles for the second time this year.
The Eagles got things started in the 12th minute to go up 1-0. Much like the Owls' last game, an early goal didn't spell more goals the rest of the first half as UMPI played well the rest of the frame giving up none and putting two shots up of their own, though no goals came out of it, and was a 1-0 lead for the Eagles at halftime.
In the second half is where the Eagles took off. Whatever adjustments were made worked heavily in their favor as they put up 15 shots and the Owls were unable to manage one. Husson scored in the 50th, 53rd, 72nd, 81st and 83rd minutes to put up an astounding 5 goals in the second half. Despite UMPI's efforts to keep it close in the first 45 minutes, Husson wrote the script with their second half dominance.
The Owls put on two shots, one from Isaac Doore, and one from Jovain Barrett. In Goal, Sam Paladino saved 6 shots.
UMPI will move on and face Lesley University this coming Saturday in Lexington, Massachusetts for another big NAC East game. The Owls will look to put this one behind them and get back in the win-column. That game will begin at 12:30pm and will be played at Minuteman High School.
