UMPI Host Eagles in Non-Conference Match

PRESQUE ISLE, MAINE – The University of Maine at Presque Isle Owls men's soccer team hosted the Husson University Eagles in a non-conference match up. The Eagles were able to earn the win in a 6-1 victory over UMPI. The Owls fall to 0-5-0 on the year as the Eagles advance to 3-2-3 on the year.
 
The teams stayed even in the first 29 minutes, before the Eagles broke the scoring drought. Scoring in the 29th minute of the game to give them the lead going into the first half. The Owls first half defense kept the Eagles off the scoreboard for the majority of the 45 minutes, despite the teams attacks at the net as they finished the half with 12 shots to the Owls two.
 
The second half the Eagles were able to put a couple in the back of the net, in just the first three minutes of the half, they were able to score their second goal. Following shortly with another, the two more at the 63 and 73-minute marks. The Owls continued to battle with the Eagles as the game headed to its end. Senior Captain Nyden Reed came up with his first goal on the year in the 76th minute of the game to end the change of a shutout.
 
The Eagles would finish the game with a total of 24 shots, 17 on goal as UMPI finished the game with five shots, three of which were on goal. Xavier McAtee spent most of the match in goal for UMPI, finishing with 11 saves. Kobe West would enter in the final 15 minutes of the game, where he allowed no goals.
