Owls Tie Falcons in Non-Conference Battle

PRESQUE ISLE, MAINE – The Owls men's soccer team battled the Falcons of fisher College in a non-conference match, finishing the physical game in a 2-2 tie. The Owls now sit 0-5-1 on the year as the Falcons are 1-2-2.
 
It was the Falcons that started off the scoring with a goal in the 29th minute of the game, as they led by one goal going into the half. UMPI came out of the gate firing in the second half, led by Josh Thomas' goal just one minute into the second half. Senior captain Reece Carter earned the assist on the game-tying goal. As the teams continued to battle in the physical game, Remar Shirley came up big for the Owls yet again. Scoring in the 61st minute to give the Owls the lead. Another senior captain, Nyden Reed with the assist on the goal. The Falcon's bounced back later in the game with a goal in the 74th minute of the game to tie it up two goals apiece.
 
The Falcons finished the game with a slight edge of 14 shots and six on goal to the Owls eight shots to five shots on goals. Shirley led the Owls on the attack with three shots on the game. Xavier McAtee led the way on the defensive end, spending the duration in goal, finishing with four saves.
 
 
 
Next Up: The Owls will head down to Farmington to face the Beavers in a NAC match up.
