Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Owls Host First Home Match of the Year

PRESQUE ISLE, MAINE – The Owls women's volleyball team hosted their first match in the newly renovated Wieden Gymnasium. Hosting Aroostook County rival the University of Maine at Fort Kent. This would be the Owls second match up vs the Bengals, as the Owls would lose both of the doubleheader games.

Game 1
Bengals (3-1): 25-21, 4-25, 15-25, 16-25
The Owls and the Bengals battled in the first set to start off this rivalry. The Bengals would have the edge throughout the match, eventually leading 16-10 before the Owls went on a 7-0 run to take the lead 17-16 lead. They battled back and forth before the Owls were able to put it away off an Alexis Engel kill.

The second set the Bengals bounced back in a big way as their serves would lead them to a victory. The third set the Owls found their groove again, as they would go on a quick run early in the game to give them an early lead. Although UMFK would keep pressuring the Owls on their serves to take the win. In the final set the Owls battled late in the set to give them a chance before UMFK put it away.

Game 2
Bengals (3-0): 20-25, 10-25, 17-25
UMPI started off game two with their usual high energy as they battled with the Bengals. An early run by the Owls gave them a five-point lead early. This run was answered by the Bengals with an eight to nothing run themselves. The team continued their back and forth play as the Owls found themselves down 23-20. The Bengals would go on to scoring a kill and ace to put the first set to an end.

The second and third set was a game of runs by the Bengals as they would go on to put multiple rallies together to give them the two win as they left UMPI 2-0.
