Shirley Leads the Owls in a Non-Conference Battle vs the Mariners

CASTINE, MAINE – The Owls faced off against the Mariners of Maine Maritime Academy (2-1-1), in the non-conference match, falling 4-2. The Owls fall to an 0-4-0 record despite the efforts of the Owls Remar Shirley, scoring both the Owls goal on the day.

The two-team battled in the first half as the Mariners had the edge on the offensive side and getting a goal in the 22nd minute of the game. The teams stayed even through the remainder of the first half. As the second half started, Shirley put the Owls on the board in the 52nd minute to tie the game. The Mariners returned with an immediate goal to give them back the lead. Later scoring another in the 59th and in the 64th minute, the Mariners took a 4-1 lead. The Owls continued to battle led on the attack by Shirley, he put another one in the back of the net in the 78th minute of the game.
 
 
Next Up: The Owls will host Vermont State University Lyndon in their first conference game of the year.
