Owls Continue to Improve at Monks Invitational

STANDISH, MAINE – The Owls Women's track & field team competed in the Monks Invitational. The Owls finished ninth of the 16 teams, scoring 19 points on the meet.

Chantel Williams led the team with 7.5 points, earned on her 100m Dash, where she recorded a new school record, High Jump and Long Jump. Finishing 3^rd in the Long Jump with a distance of 4.95m to earn six of her points for the team. Monica McLaughlin finished fourth in the Javelin with a 34.90m throw to earn her five points. Katelyn Osborne earned four points for UMPI with a fifth place finish in the 400m Run, 1:05.98.

Coach comments:
With four other conference teams at this meet (Lesley, UMF, Johnson, Husson) we were up against half of the institutions we'll see in two weeks at the conference championship at Colby College (hosted by Thomas College). We are developing consistently as a team as a result of individual work by all our athletes. The outlook is looking to be one of the better results we've had in our brief six year program history. Being at Regis College to work out final plans for entries at NACs will be crucial to our success.
