Owls Split with Badgers on Senior Day

PRESQUE ISLE, MAINE – The University of Maine at Presque Isle women's volleyball team faced off against VTSU-Johnson in a doubleheader. The Owls lost the first match, this would be the only game that was considered a North Atlantic Conference game. UMPI would bounce back and win the second match to split the day. The Owls advance to 3-12 on the season and 1-4 in the NAC.
The Owls celebrated senior day, celebrating their four seniors. Zoe Aylward-Frank, Bailey-Michelle LaPlante, Alondra Lopez-Aquino, and Amalia Erives.
 
Game 1
Badgers (3-1): 26-24, 25-20, 25-19, 25-15

This back-and-forth game started in the first set as the team traded runs to keep the score tight. An early 6-0 run gave the Owls a 9-6 lead. Later in the set, after more back and forth play, UMPI found themselves one point away from a win, although the Badgers would go on a 4-0 run to steal the first set. The second set the team continued to trade runs, this time, the Badgers would maintain a slight lead throughout the set to eventually take the win.
In the third set the Owls found themselves down early, to eventually put together a 5-0 run to tie the game at ten each. Later, down two, the Owls put together a 9-0 run to take a big lead, eventually earning their first win. The Badgers were able to put the match away in the fourth set, answering any of the Owls chances for a run to bring them back into the set.

Owls (3-1): 16-25, 25-23, 26-24, 25-19

The Badgers continued their streak with a win in the first set, as they put together some late runs to take the win. The rest of the match was all UMPI, starting the second set, the teams continued their battle of runs. A couple of runs by the Badgers would bring them to a 22-20 lead late in the set. The Owls were able to put together a 5-1 to eventually earn the win.
The third set was more of the same as they battled back and forth with multiple lead changes. The Owls found themselves up late, before another answer by the Badgers led the score to 24-22 in UMPI's favor. With the game on the line, the Badgers put together two points to tie the game. Although the Owls o=would bounce right back with a quick two points to put the third set away. In the fourth and final set, the team, to nobody's surprise, battled in a game of runs. A fitting ending as UMPI went on an 8-1 run to end the match.
