Owls Sweep Hornets

PRESQUE ISLE, MAINE – The University of Maine at Presque Isle women's volleyball team hosted VTSU-Lyndon in a doubleheader. The Owls lost the first match, this would be the only game that was considered a North Atlantic Conference game. The Owls won both sets 3-0, sweeping the day. This brings the Owls to a 2-4 NAC record as they currently sit 5-12 on the regular season.
 
Game 1
Owls (3-0): 25-13, 25-6, 25-16
UMPI started the first set with a quick run to give them a lead, although the Hornets bounced back to get the game near even. The Owls were able to string together a couple of runs to maintain a lead to eventually put the first set away. The second set the Owls came out hot with an early 9-0 run to take an 11-3 lead. UMPI continued to push their lead to eventually take the win, only allowing six points by the Hornets. The Hornets battled in the third set as they stayed within five points throughout the set, although the Owls were able to complete the sweep.

Game 2
Owls (3-0): 25-10, 25-13, 25-6
To start the second match, UMPI continued to rally together some runs to give them a large lead early. Eventually ending the set with a 6-0 run. The second set began with an 8-1 run for the Owls. Eventually leading to a 19-7 lead. Although the Hornets put together a couple of points before UMPI's 4-0 run to put the set away. A monster 13-0 run to start the final set gave the Owls the opportunity to finish the match in the third set.
