Owls Battle in Doubleheader vs Falcons

PRESQUE ISLE, MAINE – The University of Maine at Presque Isle women's volleyball team fights vs non-conference opponent Fisher College in a doubleheader. The Owls fell in the first match 3-0 and the second 3-1.
 
Game 1
Falcons (3-0): 25-15, 25-21, 25-17

In the first set of the early morning game, the Falcons started off with an early lead. Al run later in the set gave them enough of a lead to fight off the Owls runs for a comeback. In the second set, the two teams went through some back and forth play with the largest lead being four points. Late in the set with the Falcons up 20-19, they pushed a 3-0 run. The Owls bounced back with a run of their own but not able to complete the comeback. The third set was like the second in the back-and-forth play led to a late game run by the Falcons to secure the win.

Game 2
Falcons (3-1): 25-22, 25-23, 22-25, 25-17

The two team continued their battles in the second match of the day, finding themselves tied ten each. More back and forth, with multiple lead changes the game went down to the wire. The Falcons went on a 5-0 to give them a 24-18 lead before the Owls bounced back with a 4-0, although it was not enough as the Falcons took the win. The second set was just as back and forth as the first, this time with the Falcons leading 22-18. The Owls then went on a 5-0 run to take the one-point lead. Fisher would bounce back to finish the set with another win.
Another late set comeback for UMPI got them in the game late in the third set. With the teams tied 20 each, this time it would be the Owls going on the late set run, 5-1, to secure their first win on the day. The fourth and final set was just as the others throughout the day, both teams battled back and forth as UMPI attempted to complete the comeback in the match. The Falcons would go on a couple of late runs to eventually put the match away.
