BIDDEFORD, ME - The Owls Men's basketball team traveled to play Plymouth State University in their first game at the University of New England Jim Beaufort classic.
The Panthers started off to an early lead jumping out to a 7-0 lead.
Dany Harris would get the Owls on the board first off of a free throw, quickly followed by a layup by senior
KJ Minter. Later in the first half the momentum would carry the Panthers to another 7 point run bringing the score to 31-15. Finishing out the first half graduate student
Griffin Guerrette would add a point off of yet another free throw to bring the score to 42-30 going into the second half.
The Panthers would carry the momentum into the start of the second half despite a back and forth start as they quickly found themselves going on multiple runs to pull away from the Owls ending the game with a final score of 90-58.
Harris and Guerrette led the way scoring 14 and 10 points respectively while each earned 3 rebounds. Plymouth State University was led by Kevin Henry and Giorgi Tsiklauri who each had 24 points.
The Owls will face off against Rivier University to round out their University of New England Tip-off Tournament. Gametime at noon.
