BIDDEFORD, ME – The Owls men's basketball team falls 0-2 to start the year, after losing to Rivier University in the UNE Tipoff Tournament, 62-58. The late game comeback for the Owls fell short as the Raiders went home with the victory.  

The Raiders would start the game on top with an early six point lead in just the first four minutes of the game. The runs would continue for the Raiders advancing their lead to 12 points with 6:21 to go in the first half. More back and forth would bring the Owls down by 11 going into the half. Griffin Guerrette led the Owls at the half with 13 points on 50% from the three. To start the second half the Owls figured it out, going on a 14-4 in the first four and a half minutes to tie the game at 41 each. The Raiders would then answer with a run themselves to bring their lead to ten at the 5:32 mark. A couple threes by the Owls would slowly bring the lead down to four with 2:42 left. A couple steals and late game rebounds by the Raiders sealed the deal as they took the win.

Guerrette led all scorers with 22 points off 8-17 shooting and 4-9 from three, while going perfect from the free throw line. Also adding four rebounds and two assists. Dany Harris then followed with 12 points and an impressive 18 rebounds, including nine offensive.

The Owls will head home to later face off against the Huskies of Southern Maine on Saturday.
