Box Score BOSTON, MA – The University of Maine at Presque Isle Men's Soccer Team (2-6-1) would win earn a weekend sweep as the blanked Wheelock College (0-8) and came away with a 4-0 victory.
Sophomore Cody Blair (Ashland, ME) would end up with a hat trick in the first half. His fist was unassisted in the fifth minute, while his second was in the 18th minute with the assist going to Brandon Danforth (SO, East Millinocket, ME). In the 23rd minute it was Mohamud Abukar (SO, Lewiston, ME) who set up Blair with his third goal, and the game would go to intermission with the Owls leading 3-0.
In the second half the Owls defense would stand strong. UMPI would actually split this game between two different keepers. AJ Dolley (SR, Whiting, ME) would keep the Wildcats silent in the first half, while Matthew Manter's three saves in the second half would seal the shutout. Derek Healy (SR, Hanover, MA) would ice the game away in the 81st minute, and the Owls would go on to win 4-0.
UMPI's next matchup will be a homecoming showdown with Unity on Saturday, October 1st at Park Family Field. The Owls and Rams played to a 1-1 tie earlier this season in Unity.
