Saturday: 2-1 Pilgrims
The UMPI women's soccer team put together a much stronger offensive performance against New England College, taking an early lead before the Pilgrims rallied for a 2-1 victory. After a scoreless opening half hour, the Owls broke through in the 37th minute. Leah Hebert scored UMPI's first goal of the season at 36:31, giving the Owls a 1-0 lead.
New England College answered just over six minutes later, with Ava Hudson finding the net at 42:35 to send the teams into halftime tied at 1-1. The Pilgrims continued to apply pressure after halftime, eventually taking the lead in the 69th minute. Madison Bowman finished a chance assisted by Hudson to put New England College ahead 2-1.
UMPI goalkeeper Michaela Carney kept the Owls in the match throughout, making six saves in the afternoon.
The Owls were limited to one shot during the match, but that lone attempt found the back of the net. New England College finished with 23 shots, including eight on target.

Leah Hebert provided the Owls' lone goal, scoring her first of the season in the opening half. She was also the only player for the Owls to record a shot attempt all afternoon, and certainly made it count.
Michaela Carney played all 90 minutes and recorded six saves.
MILTON, MA
Sunday: 3-0 Colonels
Curry established control early, putting pressure on the Owls throughout the opening half. The Colonels recorded 21 shots in the first 45 minutes and eventually broke through in the ninth minute. Mia Schena opened the scoring at 8:56, finishing a chance assisted by Abigail Hart to give Curry an early 1-0 lead. UMPI goalkeeper Michaela Carney kept the Owls within striking distance, making 11 saves during the first half alone. The Owls entered halftime trailing by just one goal despite Curry's heavy offensive pressure.
Curry continued to apply pressure after halftime, adding to its lead in the 64th minute. Elly Thomas scored at 63:41, with Abigail Hart providing her second assist of the afternoon. The Colonels added one more goal late, as Schena found the net again at 82:30, this time assisted by Jadyn Sotomayor, to complete the 3-0 final. The Owls generated two shots during the match, both coming on target. Abby Doughty and Amy Martinez each registered a shot on goal, but Curry goalkeeper Marie Cataldo stopped both attempts.
