FARMINGTON, ME

The UMPI Cross Country Teams headed south to Farmington to race in their first meet of the year, which happens to be the same course the NAC Championships will be at in October. The Owls competed as individuals on the women's side while they just narrowly missed edging out Husson for fourth place on the men's side.

Women:

Freshman Addie Paul was the story of the day for UMPI. She put on a great display in her first collegiate race, finishing 5^th out of 33 runners in the Women's 6K. Paul finished with a time of 26:08 and an average mile split of exactly seven minutes.

Men:

UMPI finished last place as a team but by the slimmest of margins—just one point behind Husson. Leading the pack was senior Hector Perez who finished in 26^th place overall with a time of 35:47 in the men's 8K race. His mile split sat at 7:37.7 Ian Michaud had a great effort finishing 30^th and was second for the Owls with a time of 40:15.2 and a pace of 8:05.8 per mile. Slightly behind Michaud was Potter Raymond with a time of 40:56.7. Also finishing for the Owls was Kapono Kaha'i with a time of 43:19, and David Gustin with a time of 52:37.

The Owl harriers will next race at the Maine State Intercollegiate Championship hosted by Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine next Saturday.
