Owls Add Kingfield Native Addie Paul to Cross Country and Track & Field Programs

PRESQUE ISLE, ME

The University of Maine at Presque Isle cross country and track & field programs have announced the addition of Addie Paul (Kingfield, Maine / Mt. Abram Regional High School) to the Owls roster starting in the fall 2026 semester.

Paul joins the Owls after a strong high school career that is wrapping up with this track & field spring season at Mt. Abram Regional High School. She competed in cross country and multiple distance events on the track. A versatile distance runner, Paul competed in the 400, 800, 1600, and 3200-meter events while also serving as a key contributor in cross country.

She posted personal bests of 22:04 in the 5K (cross country), 2:45 in the 800 meters, 6:05 in the 1600 meters, and 13:24 in the 3200 meters, demonstrating her range and endurance across multiple distances.

Paul earned MVP honors in both Spring Track 2024 and Fall Cross Country 2024 and was named to the MVC First All-Star Team in cross country, highlighting her impact and consistency.

Mt. Abram coach Dylan Starbird praised Paul's approach and competitive mindset. "Addie is very go with the flow, but also a pedal to the floor athlete," said Starbird.

Paul is looking forward to continuing her academic and athletic career at UMPI.

"I never thought that I would want to go more north for college, but when I visited UMPI it just felt right," said Paul.

Head Track & Field Coach Ben Power weighed in on this big acquisition. ""Addie will be a great addition to our program both from an athletic perspective and her leadership abilities. She will help our cross country and track & field teams excel to the next level in the North Atlantic Conference," Coach Power said.

Paul plans to major in Nursing at UMPI.
