UMPI Softball Kickstarts 34 Game Schedule on March 13

PRESQUE ISLE, ME

Head Softball Coach Billy Manley's squad is ready to get to action as they head south today for a doubleheader at Salem State on Friday afternoon. The twin bill is the first of two doubleheaders the Owls will play on the road to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where they will compete in the Fastpitch Dreams Classic for the fourth straight year.

UMPI will have eight games in South Carolina as part of a busy, 12 game spring trip. After a doubleheader at Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia on Sunday March 15, the Owls will take on Mt. Aloysius, Principia, SUNY Poly, St. Joseph's Long Island, Centenary, and The College of New Jersey down at the Myrtle Beach tournament.

Once UMPI gets back from their busy spring trip, they'll have a weekend off to rest up before they head to Massachusetts on April 3rd and 4th to play Anna Maria and Fisher for a four game weekend. The following weekend, the Owls will finally begin their conference schedule that consists of a full 16 games.

The NAC realigned itself into one big conference, eliminating divisions, and the Owls will play each of their eight opponents twice for the most conference games on a softball schedule in recent memory. They'll have Lyndon and Johnson on the weekend of the 11th and 12th which are scheduled to be home games but will likely be played in Hampden, Maine.

Then, they'll head to Thomas College on the 18th for a NAC doubleheader, then UMaine-Augusta the next day for their final non-conference action of the year. They'll finish out with 10 straight conference games. On the 21st they make the trip to Farmington, then on April 25th and 26th, they'll make the long drive to upstate New York to take on SUNY Delhi, and SUNY Cobleskill. The Owls will then wrap up their season with four home games: Husson on the 29th, and Lesley on May 3rd.

UMPI looks to improve on last year's campaign in Coach Billy Manley's second year at the helm as UMPI brings back all but two seniors from the 2025 team.
