PRESQUE ISLE, ME
The University of Maine at Presque Isle Women's Soccer team continued their three-game home stand with a mid-week game vs. perennial powerhouse, Husson. On an unseasonably warm September afternoon, the game became a tale of two halves.
In the first half, UMPI continued to have success playing consistent defense and solid goalkeeping, to a keep a high-powered offense off the board. At the break the score was 0-0. In the second half however, the Eagles made up for lost time, scoring twice in the first four minutes of the frame. They scored again in the 66
th minute and again in the 77
th minute to win by a decisive score of 4-0.
The Owls mustered only three shots on goal as Husson kept possession almost the entire time. The Husson outshot UMPI 30-3.
Taylor Marston and
Maggie Landeen each managed a shot on goal, while
Madelynn Morrow had the third shot for UMPI.
Mia Voisine, the reigning defensive player of the week, had pitched three shutouts her first three games as the Owls keeper. She turned in another clean slate for the first half with 11 saves. She would finish with 15 total saves, to Husson's 19 on goal.
The Owls fall to 3-1, and 1-1 in North Atlantic Conference play. They will next face the Lynx of Lesley University in Lexington, Massachusetts this Saturday for a 2:30pm start.
