Box Score LEXINGTON, MA
The University of Maine at Presque Isle Women's Soccer team continued their gauntlet stretch at Lesely University on Saturday afternoon. With this matchup, they will have faced the top three NAC East teams from last season in the span of seven days.
The Owls struggled early, allowing three goals in the first half. UMPI did not have much at all in return, losing the shots on goal battle by an astounding margin of 47-2, a credit to the high-powered Lynx attack that was relentless all afternoon. Their total shots is a single game high in the conference for the year. Lesely would net 6 goals to the Owls 1 en route to the dominant victory.
The one UMPI goal came courtesy of
Alexis Ireland in the 39
th minute, to make it 3-1. Ireland, a fifth senior, has led the Owls in goals for the last two seasons, and claimed her first of the year unassisted. Ireland had both shots for the Owls on the day.
In Goal,
Mia Voisine added to her already impressive save total on the year, stopping 19 shots, facing 25 on goal.
UMPI will try to regroup now, dropping to 3-2. They will host University of Maine at Farmington on Tuesday afternoon for a 3:30pm kickoff.
