Owls Fall to Lynx in Doubleheader

ORONO, ME – The University of Maine at Presque Ise Owls hosted the Lesley University Lynx in another North Atlantic Conference doubleheader.

Game 1 (7-4 Lynx)

How it happened: 

In the first game, UMPI started off string with a quick 3-0 lead after the first inning, coming off a single, a double and a triple, each earning an RBI. The bats would go cold for UMPI after the first as the Lions began their comeback. A 2-RBI double in the third started it off for the Lions, followed by the game tying run in the seventh to bring the game to extra innings. The Lions would bring in four runs in the eighth inning, giving the Owls a tough task to make a comeback. UMPI would fall short, bringing in just one run in the eighth.

At the Plate:

The Owls would finish the game with seven hits as a team, led by Kiersten Shade and Gracelyn Walsh, each finishing with two hits. The Owls would force five walks on the game and hit two doubles and two triples on the game.  

On the Mound:

Megan Buchholz pitched the complete game for the Owls, pitching 131 pitches as she faced 38 batters allowing just five earned runs and six hits.  

Game 2 (11-0 Lynx)

How it happened: 

Game 2 was all Lynx at the plate as they were able to put together 11 runs while holding the Owls to zero runs. The Lynx started off with three runs in the first, following with three more ing the third. Later on in the game the Lynx put up the remaining runs needed to finish the game in six innings.

On the Mound:

Gracelyn Walsh started the game for the Owls, pitching the first 4.0 innings and allowing five earned runs. Zoe Stewart and Dalaney Anfinson each pitched as well to combine with four earned runs.
