Owls Fall to Beavers in NAC Doubleheader

Farmington, ME – The University of Maine at Presque Isle Owls faced off against the University of Maine at Farmington Beavers in a doubleheader, losing the two games in the North Atlantic Conference doubleheader. As we head to the end of the season, the Owls now sit 4-18 and 4-6 in the NAC, while the Beavers are now 14-9.

Game 1 (4-5 – Beavers):

How it Happened:
The Owls started strong, taking a 2-0 lead in the third inning, but the Beavers responded with two runs of their own in the bottom of the inning. Farmington took the lead with two more runs in the fourth and added an insurance run in the fifth. Despite a late rally by UMPI, the Beavers held on for a 5-4 win.

On the Mound:
Megan Bergen picked up the win for Farmington, while Megan Buchholz took the loss for UMPI, pitching the full six innings. Allowing just two earned runs on the game and eight hits.

At the Plate:
Emma McNally started the Owls off with a triple down the left field line to score the Owls first run of the day, her only hit on the game. A two-run Homer by Gracelyn Walsh highlighted the UMPI offense on the game, her 3rd on the year.
 
Game 2 (0-8 – Beavers):

How it Happened:
In the second game, the Beavers jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, scoring two runs in the first inning and adding four more in the third. UMPI struggled to get their offense going, managing just one hit in the game.

On the Mound:
Mallory Mayo pitched a shutout for Farmington, while Hannah Saylor took the loss for UMPI. In her 4.0 innings, Saylor allowed eight earned runs along with eight hits and striking out three batters.
