Owls Compete at Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach, SC – In the Owls second day of their Myrtle Beach spring trip, the Owls fell in both games of the day. Losing the first to the University of Minnesota Moris 9-0 and then in the second game to Muhlenberg College 19-0.

(9-0 – Cougars):

How it happened:
The Cougars came out the gate with hot bats as they scored two in the first and two in the second innings to take an early 4-0 lead. In the fourth inning, the Cougars scored another five runs.  

On the mound:
Gracelyn Walsh earned the start for UMPI, pitching all four innings. Striking out two batters and allowing five earned runs. Skyla Bristol earned the win for the Cougars, pitching all five innings, striking out 11.  

At the plate:
The Owls finished the game with two hits as a team, coming off Dalaney Anfinson and Reagan Calvin.
 
Game 2 (19-0 – Mules):

How it happened:
A huge first inning for the Mules got them to a quick ten run lead. Megan Buchholz took the mound to finish off the first inning for the Owls, although the Mules scored another five runs in the second and four more in the third inning.

On the mound:
Gracelyn Walsh earned the start for the Owls, and Buchholz would end up pitching the 4.0 innings. Allowing five earned runs on the game. Walsh finished with ten earned runs.

At the plate:
Dalaney Anfinson secured the Owls only hit of the game. The Mules finished the game with 19 total hits on the game.

 
Next up: Owls will have two more games vs. Lycoming College and Mississippi University for Women to follow.
