Owls Lose both at Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach, SC – In their third straight day of two games, the Owls lost both games to Lycoming (12-1) and Mississippi University of Women (21-4). This brings the Owls to an 0-6 start on the season.

(12-1 – Warriors):

How it happened:
The Warriors got going early, scoring five runs in the first inning to take an early 5-0 lead. Scoring another two in the second and following with a big ten run third inning to boost their lead to 12-0. In the fifth inning the Owls got one run on the board in the fifth inning as Rachel Billings hit an RBI single to score Zoe Alyward-Frank.  

On the mound:
Megan Buchholz earned the start for the Owls, pitching the first 2.1 innings. Giving up three earned runs and eight hits on the day. Gracelyn Walsh finished the game, pitching the remaining 1.2 innings, giving up no hits and striking out two batters. Avery Eiswerth earned the win, pitching 3.0 innings and allowing just two hits.
 
Game 2 (21-4 – MUW):

How it happened:
The MUW Owls started off with a quick four run first inning, before the UMPI Owls scored in the bottom of the first off a double by Rachel Billings to score Dalaney Anfinson to put the Owls on the board. MUW then followed with a total of 16 runs in the following three innings to give them a 20-1 lead going into the bottom of the fourth. First year Sabrina Kauffman hit in Zoe Stweart in the fourth to add another run for the Owls. Another run by MUW gives them 21 runs on the day. An RBI triple by Zoe Aylward-Frank and another fields choice brought in two more runs for UMPI before the game ended in five innings.

On the mound:
Zoe Stewart started the game on the mound, pitching the first 2.0 innings. Gracelyn Walsh then followed pitching the next inning before Megan Buchholz finished the final two innings.

 
Next up: Owls will have two more games on the 14th vs SUNY Morrisville and Stevenson University.
