Owls Fall to the Eagles

PRESQUE ISLE, MAINE - The University of Maine at Presque Isle Owls hosted the Husson University Eagles in a North Atlantic Conference game. Before the start of the game, the Owls honored Gilbert Jean Mendez and Dany Harris for scoring their 1,000th point, as each of them completed the feat on the Owls road stretch. In the game today, the Eagles beat the Owls 84-61 as they advance to 9-3 in the conference as the Owls currently sit 5-7 in the NAC.
 
The Eagles started the game off with the edge as their defense created some early turnovers for UMPI. Although the Owls picked it up offensively while battling on the other end of the floor to bring the game within two points going into the half. In the second half the Eagles took control of the game as they continued to boost their lead throughout the second half of the game, eventually earning a 20-point win.
 
It was Riles Neff who heated up for the Eagles in the second half, going on to score 26 points on the game and 50% from three. For the Owls, it was Dany Haris who led UMPI in scoring with 18 points on 6-11 shooting and a perfect 3-3 from behind the arc. Fellow 1,000-point scorer, Jean Mendez scored 14 points on the night, as he shot 4-7 from the field and 3-6 from the three. Rookie, Doug McCalla finished the night with ten points himself, while grabbing five rebounds.
