The University of Maine at Presque Isle Women's Basketball team began their 2024-2025 season on the road Friday night at the University of Southern Maine. It was tough sledding for the Owls who struggled early against a very efficient USM offense.

UMPI fell behind early and could never recover. Despite the less than ideal final score of 84-42 in favor of the Huskies, the Owls still showed some signs of life going into the rest of their schedule.

Alexis Ireland led the way with 14 points for the Owls, she finished the day with a double-double, also adding 10 rebounds to pace the Owls. Anaira Ayala had 11 points of her own and five rebounds as the Owls point guard. She had three three-pointers. Olivia Gray had seven points and five rebounds coupled with three assists, to help out the Owls on offense. Karen Marshall also had seven points.

The Owls will look to regroup and take on USCAA opponent University of Maine at Augusta this coming Tuesday afternoon in Augusta, ME at 5pm.
