Owls Face off Against Eagles in NAC Match

PRESQUE ISLE, MAINE – The University of Maine at Presque Isle women's volleyball team battled against the tough Husson University eagles team. The Owls fell in the single game in three sets. The Owls fall to 2-7 on the year and are now 2-2 in the North Atlantic Conference. The Eagles are 1-9 on the year and 1-1 in the NAC.
 
Game 1
Eagles (3-0): 25-19, 25-15, 25-21
The Eagles started the first set with a hand full of runs to give them an early lead. The Owls continued to battle to keep them in the fight later in the set. With the score 22-25, the Owls went on a big 5-0 run to get them within three points, before the Eagles were able to put it away.
The second set was a game of runs as the Owls had the slight edge early, resulting in five lead changes in the first half of the match. With the Owls up one, Husson went on a 7-0 run to take a 18-12 lead and eventually taking the set. The third set was even more back and forth play by the two teams, going point for point until the Eagles found themselves up 13-10. UMPI bounced right back with a 3-0 run to tie the game a 13 each, although the Eagles were able to bounce back to keep the lead late in the match. Although with the Owls still fighting, the found themselves tied again, 20 each. The Eagles finished the game on a 5-1 run to put the game away.
