Owls Finish Season with Senior Day Celebration

PRESQUE ISLE, MAINE – The Owls celebrated senior day at their home field in their second day of doubleheaders vs Northern Vermont University – Lyndon Hornets. The Hornets would complete the four game sweep with a 14-5 win in the first game and a 10-6 win in the second. Jordan Young, Dakota Morrow, Payton Jones Timothy Burns and Student Assistant Parker Onorato were honored in their final games.

Some quick back and forth in the first inning brought the game to a 1-1 tie going into the second, where the Hornets were able to bring in three more runs to take the lead. The Hornets raised their lead throughout the game. A late game 3-run homer by Timothy Burns was not enough to bring the Owls back.

UMPI finished the game with eight hits and leaving six runners on base. A hand full of Owls made an appearance on the mound, as Senior Jordan Young got the start. Young pitched the first four innings allowing seven hits and five earned runs.

In game two, Payton Jones earned the start on the mound as he pitched the first 4.1 innings, allowing eight hits and eight earned runs, off the 24 batters faced. Garrett Chadwick finished the game, pitching the final 2.2 innings. At the plate for the Owls, Burns recorded another homer, totaling six on the year.
