UMPI Fly Past Moose on Senior Day

PRESQUE ISLE, ME – The Owls earn the win on senior night, beating the University of Maine at Augusta 92-64. The Owls celebrated this win while celebrating the four seniors, Parker Onorato, Kj Minter, Dany Harris, and Griffin Guerrette. This win brings the Owls to a 10-13 record on the year.

The Moose of Augusta battled in the first half, going back and forth with the Owls, as they headed into halftime just down six. The Moose shot 43% from the field in the first half while the Owls shot 51%. The Owls team really put their foot down in the second half, as they came out of the firing on all cylinders. Putting up 53 points while shooting just under 64% from the field and 41% from the three. All while holding the Moose to 39% in the second half.

Dany Harris led the Owls in scoring with 18 points on an extremely efficient night, scoring 9-10 while grabbing five rebounds in just 20 minutes of play. Gilbert Jean Mendez had a big second half as he finished the game with ten points on 5-9 shooting. Charlie Mellick came off the bench with a 15 point scoring performance, while shooting 6-8 from the field and a perfect 3-3 from deep. Akhe McMichael finished the game with ten points on 3-5 shooting and 2-3 from the three, while adding eight assists to his stat line. The Owls finished the game with 15 players in the scoring column.

The Owls will head to Northern Vermont Lyndon to play their final doubleheader of the regular season.
