Owls Beat Terriers for Another NAC Win

WATERVILLE, ME – The Owls men's basketball team faces off against the Terriers of Thomas College in a road North Atlantic Conference game. The Owls took the win from the Terriers in a hard fought battle, 88-77. The Owls now advance to 5-6 in the NAC and the Terriers fall to 1-11 in the NAC.

The high scoring game was highlighted by each team's high percentage shooting as the Terriers shot 50.8% from the field and the Owls finished the game shooting49% from the field. The difference maker would be the Owls ten offensive rebounds to the Terriers three, as well as the Terriers 21 turnovers to the Owls 14, as the Owls were able to take ten more shot attempts then the Terriers.

The Owls were led by Griffin Guerrette who finished the game with 25 points, to bring him tied for second all-time scorer in UMPI history! Guerrette's 25 points came off 10-17 shooting as he had a field day from the mid-range, hitting multiple pull ups to lead the Owls run late in the second half. Guerrette also finished with a perfect 5-5 from the free throw line. Dany Harris finished the game with 16 points and nine rebounds, six of which were offensive. Kj Minter finished the game with yet again a double-double, with 12 points and ten rebounds. While Gilbert Jean Mendez nearly finished with one as well, finishing the game with ten points and nine rebounds. Akhe McMichael came off the bench and had a spark for the Owls, finishing the game with 14 points on an impressive 3-4 shooting and 7-8 from the free throw line.

The Owls will finished their doubleheader vs the Terriers with another NAC match up at 3pm on Saturday.
