UMPI Men's Basketball Completes the Weekend Sweep Over Hornets

Owls Finish Regular Season 6 Game Win Streak

LYNDONVILLE, VT – The Owls finish with another 20-point victory over the Hornets. This 103-81 victory by the Owls, gives them their sixth straight win to finish off their regular season. Ending their regular season with a 12013 record and 8-6 record in the North Atlantic Conference.

The Owls started off down to the Horrnets by as much as seven points, early in the first half. It was at the 10-minute mark where the Owls bounced back to take the lead. Bringing their lead up to eight, before heading into halftime up six points. First half scoring came off an Owls 51% shooting from the field although they struggled from the free throw line, shooting just 54%. The Hornets would shoot 48% from the field and 76% from the free throw line to help keep them in the game.

The Owls would start the second half with a 10-0 run to bring their lead to 16-points. Eventually bringing the lead up to 24 points as UMPI was able to hold off the short runs by the Hornets. The Owls would shoot another impressive 62% from the field in the second half, this time hitting free throws at 86% clip. All while holding the Hornets to 35% shooting.

Griffin Guerrette finished the game with a team high 26 points on 10-18 shooting and hitting 5-7 of his free throws. Gilbert Jean Mendez got it going in the scoring column with 20 points on 8-14 shooting, despite fouling out of the game. Dany Harris finished with 16 points while Akhe McMichael finished the game with 17 points on 7-10 shooting off the bench.
