Owls Beat Eagles in NAC Match

BANGOR, MAINE – The University of Maine at Presque Isle women's volleyball team beat the Eagles of Husson University in a North Atlantic Conference single game. The game would go five sets as they bounced back, winning the second, third and fifth sets of the match. This brings the Owls to a 6-12 record and advancing them to 3-4 in the NAC.

The first set started off with the Eagles holding a lead heading late into the set. Alondra Lopez-Aquino sparked a rally, serving four aces in the 6-0 run to fight back into the set. The Eagles would finish off the set shortly after. The second set would be the Owls holding off the Eagles in their attempts to come back, UMPI took the second set.

The third set would be a game of runs, as the Eagles started it off with an 8-1 run to take an early 10-6 lead. This would immediately spark a 6-0 run by UMPI to gain back the lead. UMPI was not done there, after just two Eagles points, the Owls sparked an 8-0 run to put the game out of reach, despite the Eagles attempts to battle back. The Eagles would answer the elimination game in the fourth set, to bring the teams to a fifth and final set. With the serve, UMPI would start it off with an early 4-0 run. UMPI would keep pressuring the Eagles at the net to regain the serve. UMPI continued to advance their lead, capitalizing on each error by the Eagles while putting together a number of aces and kills to put the game away.
