8-0 Victory for the Owls on Senior Day

PRESQUE ISLE, MAINE – The Owls men's soccer team's 7-0 surge in the first half resulted in an 8-0 win vs the VTSU-Lyndon Hornets in a North Atlantic Conference match up. On the Owls senior day they earned their second NAC win of the year, finishing 2-7-1 on the regular season.
 
The Owls celebrated six seniors in their win. Steven Nader, Remar Shirley, Reece Carter, Nyden Reed, Jacob Sjoberg, and Kobe West.
 
Just 20 seconds into the game, Remar Shirley started the scoring in the first half. Fellow senior Reed with the assist on the goal. Carter was the next Owl to score in the third minute of the game. Eduardo Figueroa followed in the 18th minute with an assist by Isaac Doore. Doore was not done there as he would assist on the next two goals as well. The seniors just kept scoring on their day, Nader scored the Owls fourth goal in the 20th minute while Reed followed in the 25th minute. Sjoberg then scored in the 30th minute to make that five UMPI seniors putting one in the back of the net.
 
Usually finding Xavier McAtee in the goal for UMPI, this time he was able to putt the ball in the opponent's goal in the 39th minute, scoring a header off a corner taken by Jacob Brezovsky. This concluded the Owls first half scoring, although they were not done there, as Shirley scored his 10th goal of the season in the 86th minute. UMPI went on to win their final regular season game of the year, 8-0.
