Owls Fall to Lynx After Second Half Surge

LEXINGTON, MASSACHUSETTS – The Owls women's soccer team faced off against the Lynx of Lesley University. In a second half surge the Lynx grabbed the victory, 9-1 to maintain their undefeated North Atlantic Conference record.
 
The Lynx took control of the game early with back-to-back goals, in the 6th and 8th minutes of the game. Although, the remainder of the first half, the Owls would hold off the top NAC seed to head into the locker room down just two. With the Lynx maintaining control of the ball, they finished the first half with 17 shots to the Owls two. UMPI was not finished as Alexis Ireland started the second half with a goal in the 54th minute to cut the lead in half, this would be her 7th goal of the year as the score was 2-1. The Lynx were able to bounce back and score in the 56th minute to bring the lead back up to two. From the 70th-80th minute, the Lynx went on a surge and scored four goals to boost their lead. Eventually scoring two more to finish the game.
 
The Lynx led the way with 33 shots, and 18 shots on goal to the Owls three shots, and two on goal. Marissa Havey spent the 90-minute game in goal for UMPI, finishing with nine saves on the day.
 
 
Next Up: the Owls will head back home to host VTSU-Lyndon in their final game of the year.
